Broccoli - Hot-n-Spicy in a Jiffy

I love Broccoli. I cannot say that I have always loved it, well, mostly because I never saw it in India and only started eating it after coming to the U.S.. My first tryst with this odd looking, green cauliflower type thing, was in a Malaysian curry dish. And OMG! I have not tasted any other vegetable that can soak in flavors as much as Broccoli does. Since then, I am a fan.

Even if you don't love Broccoli yet, try this simple dish - at worst, you will like (or not like) it as much as you did before. At best, you'll become a fan .. like yours truly :-)

PS: To get an idea of how much I like this vegetable, here is a statistic - we buy this from Costco - yes, the BIG BAG of BROCCOLI from Costco.

Ingredients

(serves 4)

Broccoli florets - 12 oz/350g
Trader Joe's Jalapeno Pepper Hot Sauce - 1 tsp
Italian Seasoning (Optional)
Sea Salt (or regular salt) - per taste
Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 1 tsp

1) Trim the florets to about 2in size. Rinse in cold water (or wash thoroughly if not pre-washed)
2) Microwave in a container with a lid for 3 min. Keep covered for 5 min
3) Heat the olive oil in a saute pan (keep at medium, don' overheat)
4) Saute the florets in the pan for a min until the color changes to bright green
5) Add the hot sauce, seasoning and salt. Saute for a couple of min more until the water from the sauce evaporates.

Eat and Enjoy!
